The ASOF workshop 2023 was hosted by the 'Insituto de Oceanografia y Cambio Global - Universidad de las Palmas de Gran Canaria'. Main topics for this year were to discuss recent progress in research projects and studies related to the ASOF objectives. In addition we gathered information for the engagement phase of the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) process and we discussed the status and further steps for the three Arctic Distributed Biological Observatories (DBOs) the well-established Pacific DBO, the ongoing establishment of a Davis Strait/Baffin Bay DBO and the Atlantic-Arctic DBO in development as part of the Arctic PASSION project). ASOF is grateful to the local organisers and hosts, as well as to all participants for a successful meeting.
